EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a therapeutic approach that connects to distressing life events in order to lessen emotional pain and reevaluate formative moments. This reevaluation can shift long held identities allowing for new internal beliefs to emerge. This approach is based on the AIP Model that theorizes many of our behavioral and mental health imbalances in the present (anxiety, depression, addictions, overwhelm) are due to maladaptive beliefs stored in the brain and body. With EMDR a person, over time, can reduce behavioral and emotional issues by addressing past distress. EMDR is an evidence based practice and one of the leading treatment modalities for trauma.
IFS or Internal Family Systems is a therapeutic approach that provides a language and construct for understanding the complex internal landscape. Each person is made up of many complex ‘parts’. Each part of us is motivated to protect or regulate the system (our brain and body). In this approach there is an exploration of self and the use of techniques to relate to self in a more understanding and helpful way. The relationship we have with ourselves informs all others.
Somatic Tracking is the process of building practical strategies to feel difficult emotions. This approach works to build skills in ‘feeling our feelings’ by bringing mental attention to the body. This practice provides regulation strategies and long term methods to feel and integrate emotional data from daily life or past events. It is a primary life skill in sustaining emotional balance.

ABOUT ME
Candra Savage LCSW
My journey began as a classical singer and performer and shifted 8 years ago to social work. Graduating in 2018 with my masters in Social Work I was drawn to individuals struggling with trauma and substance use. During that time I have found a passion in learning to be with people and navigating their shadows. What happens when we slow down and turn towards the parts of us that we have feared, shamed, or rejected? I have found that healing on the deepest level begins with this shift towards our darkness. I have become fascinated by the capacity for resilience and healing within the human spirit and feel deeply connected to it. While I miss music I have found that deep human connection has a frequency all its own.
